History of PKF in Eastern Africa

The chronology of events below captures the chronology of events that led to the formation of PKF firms in Eastern Africa.

1964 Established in Kenya as Kassim - Lakha Abdulla & Co. (KLA & Co.). The founding partners were Zavahir Alibhai, Ameer Kassim-Lakha and Mohamed Abdulla
1965 Kassim Lakha merged with Noordin Neallani & Co. of Kampala
1967 Merged with Ravji Habib & Co. of Dar-es-salaam
1982 Tanzania office closed due to constant border closures that persisted between Tanzania and Kenya after the collapse of the East African Community
2000 KLA & Co. merged with Samvir & Co. and the firm was renamed as Kassim - Lakha Samvir Abdulla
2002 Admitted as a member of PKF International and changed name to KLSA Pannell Kerr Forster. By now the firm had offices in Kenya and Uganda.
2007 Office opened in Kigali, Rwanda
2012 PKF Kenya merges with Grant Thornton, Kenya. The merged firm will continue as PKF Kenya
